Christmas Gifts

Christmas Gifts

It’s now exactly 41 days and 10 minutes before Christmas, but I’m really not that excited about it compared to those previous Christmases in the past few years. I rarely hear Christmas songs these past few weeks and the weather is really hot. I don’t know why I don’t feel any connection or anticipation about the coming festive celebration.

Anyways, we will have our company’s Christmas party this coming 14th of December. This is actually my first Christmas with the company, but it’s still the usual manita/manito stuff for exchanging gifts. We are obliged to announce our wish list so that our respective manitas or manitos will know what specific gifts they have to give us during the party. I really don’t fancy anything expensive. I just want stuffs that can make me laugh and can also make me cry at the same time. So here is my wish list:

Any DVD copies will do, but they should be clear copies.

1. Devil Beside You(Mike He and Rainie Yang). This is the best Asian Drama series according to BestStuff.com.

2. Vampire Knight(The Anime Series). I’ve actually read the manga, but it’s still stuck at chapter 43. I just want to have the anime series copy for a change.

3. Hana Yori Dango(The Japanese Version). Though this is a Jdrama which has the same plot with Meteor Garden, I still want to watch this because a lot of people said that it’s better than the Taiwanese version. They said that it’s more loyal to the manga compared to MG that has lots of additional scenes.

4. Princess Hours(Korean Series). According to BestStuff.Com, this is the best Korean Drama series of all time. I hope the review won’t fail my expectation. Hehehe.

5. My Girl(Another Korean Series). I dunno if this one is great, but a friend told me that it’s rather funny.

6. Claymore(The Anime Series). I’ve read the manga of this, and it’s still stuck at chapter 82. Just want to see the anime version for a change.

Hmmmn…I guess that’s all for now. I mean 14th of December is still several days away. I’ll just tell you if I’ve changed my mind. Anyways, any four of the above will do. Lolers!

Thanks Manita/Manito. (:

Cebu Bloggers Society Featured on MagTV Na!11.09.08

I just watched MagTV Na, a local ABS-CBN show this morning. I don’t usually watch this show, but I waited for it because it would feature my co-cbs members in their segment that talks about blogging. And as expected I saw five CBS members in the show. They were X, Rodel, Gerry, Clarence, and Kevin.

Rodel talked about his experience in making money thru blogging, X gave a brief description of his blogsite, Gerry explained that he started his blog as a hobby, Clarence talked about the content of his Dahong Laya blog, and Kevin talked about his controversial blogsite campaigning Sen. Mar Roxas candidacy for the 2010 presidential election. Kevin’s blog was also mentioned as one of the Philippines Top 100 Blogs.

It’s really great that the CBS group has little but constant exposures. The group started attending small talks, conferences, and then went to radio and now on TV. These are stepping stones for the group’s stability and these would also encourage fellow bloggers to join the group. The more members the manyer. Hehehehe! Kudos to Cebu Bloggers Society!

Kiko of Survivor Philippines09.16.08

I just watched Survivor Philippines last night at GMA 7. The production is really big, and grand and all. The location is well, as what you would expect, a very secluded place somewhere in Thailand. It is called the Devil’s Island. The name could tell you hundreds of unimaginable obstacles all the survivors must go through in order to win the most coveted three million pesos.

There are actually 18 castaways, 9 males and 9 females. All are competing against each other to become the very first sole survivor. And I already have my favorite castaway. Well, no other than Raymund Francis Rustia aka Kiko. It’s obvious that he’s the hottest male in the contest. With those long dread locks, well toned body, and “animalistic” appeal, all girls are definitely drooling in front of their monitors. Hahahaha! And mind you, he has a beard and a mustache too. Very interesting!

Kiko showcased his gentleman side in the pilot episode. The survivors’ very first test was to swim from their boat in the middle of the sea to the island. Unlike others, who just swam their way to the island on their own, he, on the other hand seemed to play the selfless gentleman, by helping some of the girls who has difficulty in swimming, to get through the test. That’s why he ended up in the last batch to reach the island. Well, we don’t know if this behavior is just for the sake of the show, but nonetheless, by doing a such he had lowered his probability of being voted out earlier in the game. And that’s a very nice strategy.

Grey’s Anatomy12.30.07

Allyson(to Merideth): Hi! I’m Allyson Shepherd. And you must be the woman who has been screwing my husband!

The very last secret has been revealed. That’s episode 9, season 1 of Grey’s Anatomy. I just finished watching 9 bloody episodes and it was great, great, great. The series is hilarious, the theme is sexy and sassy and everything cheeky. All the leading characters are awesome. George, the shy-type-kindhearted-funny intern who has been smitten by Merideth since the start of the story; Christina, the Korean-hot-tempered-intelligent-brutally frank intern who got her attending surgeon between her thighs; Miss Stevens(I forgot her first name), the model-surgeon who has an amazing pair of asses and a very compassionate heart; Alex, the chick-boy-the original syphilis carrier who is so hateful, boastful, overconfident and all craps; Dr. Burke, the handsome colored surgeon who has been secretly hitting the sack with his intern; Dr. Shepherd (everybody’s saying he’s bloody handsome but he’s not my type…hahahaha!), an attending surgeon who had a one-night stand with his intern and became her lover; and Merideth, the anatomy of drawing-lines-and-crossing-those-lines who turned out to be screwing a married man. Hahahaha! Well, her character is lovable. I cannot help but love her bedroom voice and she doesn’t look her age. Way to go…

Sara’s dead…):10.11.07

I‘m quite disappointed that the production team had finally decided the fate of Dr. Sara Tacredi…It’s disheartening that they have no other choice but to kill her character because Sarah Wayne Callies declined the offer to renew her contract…hmmmn….sayang…murag makawa ug gana motan-aw…beset oist…Anyways, here’s an excerpt an interview with Prison Break executive producer Matt Olmstead….

Last January, after it was announced that Sarah was pregnant, your colleague, Paul Scheuring, assured fans that he had no intention of killing off her character. What changed?
Matt Olmstead: What changed is that our initial pitch to the network was [rejected], so we had to go back to the drawing board. I remember we were sitting in the room thinking, “How do we unlock Season 3, motivation-wise?” Since we’re not a procedural, we have to keep everyone moving forward. We have to evolve. And given what Michael’s been through, how do you keep him going? And then it was tossed out, “What happens if Sara gets killed as an extension of what we already had planned for Season 3?” We knew that would work. But clearly it was a big conversation. And when we pitched the network, they wanted to know if there was any way we could avoid that, because everyone loved Sarah’s work. But in order to make the season work, we really didn’t have any other motivation for Michael. We determined that this was the right thing to do in order to really jolt the series.

Did you ever stop to consider that this might be a slap in the face to fans who had invested two years in the Michael-Sara relationship?
Olmstead: We took everything into consideration. Our initial idea was to have [Sarah/Sara appear in] the first 13 episodes, so she and Michael could have a proper goodbye. There were going to be some really emotional scenes where he tried to save her from dying, but she ultimately passed. So then we whittled it down to 11 episodes, then 10 episodes, then nine episodes, then four episodes. Then we suggested flying to her she was pregnant [at the time] and living in a remote part of Canada and bringing a camera crew to her house, but that wasn’t accepted. We then whittled it down to just a phone conversation, and that was turned down, too. We were really looking forward to paying off that relationship. But [when] it became evident that that wasn’t going to happen, we made lemonade out of a lemon.

So, as a result, you were forced to kill her off sooner than you had planned?
Olmstead: Much sooner. We used the story to our advantage in that she was being held hostage. [Sarah] was gracious enough to let us use her image, which really helped. I totally get it, personally. She was, at the time, pregnant and living in a remote part of Canada and nesting; [she] kind of looked at the options and didn’t want to go forward. No hard feelings whatsoever. The show is an ensemble. The show moves forward. There are very few untouchable actors on the show.

No one can take from us the joy of the first becoming aware of something, the so-called discovery. But if we also demand the honor, it can be utterly spoiled for us, for we are usually not the first. What does discovery mean, and who can say that he has discovered this or that? After all it's pure idiocy to brag about priority; for it's simply unconscious conceit, not to admit frankly that one is a plagiarist. -Goethe
