A friend told me that my bisrock blogsite is mentioned in FHM’s June issue. I immediately get my copy of the said issue and scan the pages. And here it is…

The write up is a part of the “Rock n Roll Joyride” article sponsored by Red Horse. It’s subtitle is “BISROCK, CEBU’S BEST PRODUCT SINCE YOYOY VILLAME”. This is what the article said:

On the surface, Cebu bands dabble in pretty much the same sounds as their Manila counterparts. But the crucial difference is how they reproduce their sound in an album. In that part of the game Cebuanos trample the competition. Case in point, Urbandub. “When we went to the studio where Urbandub recorded their albums, the equipment were antiquated,” enthused Sandwich guitarist Diego Castillo. “It’s amazing how they got their amazing sound.”

You can credit that to their reps as a musical town courtesy of their guitar-makers, or heck just Yoyoy being there, but it is quite obvious the sound of Cebu is globally competent.

At the end of the article my bisrock blogsite is mentioned…

APO

Hmmmn…I’ve known a lot of fraternities here in Cebu, but only one has caught my attention saliently. APO or Alpha Phi Omega is a true paradigm of what a fraternity should be. Unlike other fraternities which gained notoriety due to violence, APO stands with its goals and missions, and that what made the organization a role model in our society. Instead of bragging about high-powered guns and private goons (like what the members of other fraternities are doing), APO has a community service-oriented activities that alleviate the hardships of the common people. This kind of “fraternitism” should be the one that should be practiced by all fraternities. And these fraternities should also train their members in keeping their feet on the ground. (Base from my observations most fraternity members especially those who are into violence are braggarts…). Check more of APO Zeta Omega (ΖΩ) here.

Hmmn…I’ve read an article a long time ago entitled Racism, Filipino Style” from getrealphilippines.com. It is written by a guy named Benigno. The article is quite sarcastic in nature but surprisingly it is mostly true to almost all Filipinos. He rants about Filipinos getting scared of going abroad because of racial discrimination without taking into consideration that we also are getting discriminated in our country by our beloved Filipino fellows by virtue of the way we speak (especially the English language), the color of our skin (this one I hate a lot), the schools we came from (the elite ones are from private schools), and even how tall we are. He indirectly stated that Filipinos are hypocrites because we say we are free from foreign conquerors but the truth is we are like puppies in front of them and we even give them special treatments more than our fellows. We are complaining about foreigners getting hold of our major business industries, but we are actually fascinated with these people that we are like silly beggars in their presence. Lastly, Benigno stated that Filipinos are just good in complaining but they don’t really make any efforts to pursue what they want.

I couldn’t agree more with Benigno’s views and opinions. As an ordinary denizen in this country I was once become a subject to this what we called “Filipino Racism”. We are so conscious of the color of our skins and we always look up to those fairer-skinned mortals. In my very young age I tend to hate myself because of my skin color. How I couldn’t be when all my classmates are teasing and bullying me because of it. I even questioned the unknown why I got a skin like this and why my classmates despise it so much. At an early age, I was harshly segregated from everyone because of that trivial reality. How pathetic I was that time. But well, that is history. I considered it a part of this society’s rotten culture. And I believe that wherever you may be discrimination will always be there and it would be up to you if you will let it degrade your integrity and confidence.

It bothers me a lot how our fellows tend to categorize us when it comes to our English fluency. The ones who speak it well are the elite ones and the others are in the lower class. I always find it easy to speak to foreigners in English rather than talking English to my fellow Filipinos. It is because most of us are like English Professors who tend to evaluate and criticize us in every punctuations, pronunciations and grammars we are using. It is so sad that we are too proud in speaking English but we barely know how to speak our local dialects. It irritates me a lot while commuting in a jeepney with fellow passengers talking in English like drunken assholes (just like telling every passengers that hey, we are elite we speak English). Oh, well that is my point of view or maybe I’m just too short-sighted here. I couldn’t contain myself but laugh at our own silliness. We rally in streets shouting about freedom and despising foreign capitalists, and then, after that we go to McDonalds and drink Coke Float and eat Mac Burgers. Filipinos are funny people I may say. Sometimes what we say contradicts to what we do. That’s why I couldn’t blame Benigno’s claim that we are only good at complaining. Well, it is still great to say that not all Filipinos are like that. Racism will always be there. You couldn’t stop people from labeling you and it’s all up to you how to react on that. Even our president is not spared. Yet, she proves to all that height doesn’t matter. It all boils down to performance. Filipinos are just good in looking at other people’s mistakes, and I’m sure we don’t differ that much from any caucasians or africans out there.

Sara’s dead…):

I‘m quite disappointed that the production team had finally decided the fate of Dr. Sara Tacredi…It’s disheartening that they have no other choice but to kill her character because Sarah Wayne Callies declined the offer to renew her contract…hmmmn….sayang…murag makawa ug gana motan-aw…beset oist…Anyways, here’s an excerpt an interview with Prison Break executive producer Matt Olmstead….

Last January, after it was announced that Sarah was pregnant, your colleague, Paul Scheuring, assured fans that he had no intention of killing off her character. What changed?
Matt Olmstead: What changed is that our initial pitch to the network was [rejected], so we had to go back to the drawing board. I remember we were sitting in the room thinking, “How do we unlock Season 3, motivation-wise?” Since we’re not a procedural, we have to keep everyone moving forward. We have to evolve. And given what Michael’s been through, how do you keep him going? And then it was tossed out, “What happens if Sara gets killed as an extension of what we already had planned for Season 3?” We knew that would work. But clearly it was a big conversation. And when we pitched the network, they wanted to know if there was any way we could avoid that, because everyone loved Sarah’s work. But in order to make the season work, we really didn’t have any other motivation for Michael. We determined that this was the right thing to do in order to really jolt the series.

Did you ever stop to consider that this might be a slap in the face to fans who had invested two years in the Michael-Sara relationship?
Olmstead: We took everything into consideration. Our initial idea was to have [Sarah/Sara appear in] the first 13 episodes, so she and Michael could have a proper goodbye. There were going to be some really emotional scenes where he tried to save her from dying, but she ultimately passed. So then we whittled it down to 11 episodes, then 10 episodes, then nine episodes, then four episodes. Then we suggested flying to her she was pregnant [at the time] and living in a remote part of Canada and bringing a camera crew to her house, but that wasn’t accepted. We then whittled it down to just a phone conversation, and that was turned down, too. We were really looking forward to paying off that relationship. But [when] it became evident that that wasn’t going to happen, we made lemonade out of a lemon.

So, as a result, you were forced to kill her off sooner than you had planned?
Olmstead: Much sooner. We used the story to our advantage in that she was being held hostage. [Sarah] was gracious enough to let us use her image, which really helped. I totally get it, personally. She was, at the time, pregnant and living in a remote part of Canada and nesting; [she] kind of looked at the options and didn’t want to go forward. No hard feelings whatsoever. The show is an ensemble. The show moves forward. There are very few untouchable actors on the show.

Ehem…one of my fave philosopher…In any other way, I can tell that he’s the most practical one I’ve known…I used to hate Indian people before but this bearded guy changed my construct…hahahahahaha…

I really like this statement from his book:
“Life is a journey—an endless journey. Do not analyze. Just enjoy the journey. Pity you!—in your obsession for the destination, you miss to appreciate the beauty of the journey itself. There is no goal—if life has a goal, then when you reach the goal, you have become imprisoned by your own goal—you have become less by your goal. What we have in life is a series of journeys. In fact it is the journey alone that counts.” (in Rajneesh Osho’s book, If you see the Buddha; That is not the Buddha–Slap it! Pune, India: Osho Ashram, 1995; p. 163) .

I’m just wondering how many mortals out there could relate to this? Hmmmn…Osho hit me straight to the face…He’s right! Oftentimes people are so goal-oriented they forget to enjoy their life. Hmmmn…Katulgon nako…Sunod adlaw nasad…hekhek…
